What is SEO?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” listings on search engines. All major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing have such results, where web pages and other content such as videos or local listings are shown and ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users. Payment isn’t involved, as it is with paid search ads.

Design for web vs print/ Design vs Usability

Design on the web is very different from design in print. “Web design is the creation of digital environments that facilitate and encourage human activity; reflect or adapt to individual voices and content; and change gracefully over time while always retaining their identity.” If you know the medium your design is going to be used for your design with in return be enhanced.   Design and usability do not mean the same thing. Design has to do with colors and where things are going to go on your page.  Usability is how your website is going to function.  Do all the links work? Are they easy to follow? Can people with certain disabilities use them as well?  These are all questions you have to ask when your concern is focused towards the usability of your website.
